“Une maison, une atmosphère, Le Cozy”

Today, Le Cozy is a B&B and gîte that combines peace, nature and authentic hospitality. The historic character of the building has been preserved, but complemented with modern amenities such as comfortable rooms, an outdoor pool and facilities to relax and explore the surrounding area.

The building in which Le Cozy is located is an old structure several hundred years old (from the late 17th or early 18th century). Although the builder is unknown, the building is historically embedded in an economic landscape that was closely linked to the Baïse River. It originally served as a river captaincy, a harbor master’s house by the river.

From around 1877, Saint-Jean-Poutge was officially the terminus of the navigable Baïse. Gabarres (cargo boats) transported goods such as stone, coal, wine and Armagnac to Bordeaux and beyond. Shipping ensured that trade and crafts flourished in the village: sale and upkeep of horses and donkeys, breweries, artisans, inns and repair activities for the shipping industry.

Around 1898, hundreds of ships were counted each year, but due to, among other things, phylloxera (vineyard disease) and competition from railways, traffic declined by the beginning of the 20th century. The last gabarres arrived around 1936 and in 1954 the Baïse was downgraded as a navigable river.

During the twentieth century, the building was renovated and transformed into a chambres d’hôtes and gîte: L’Amirauté sur Baïse (the Admiralty on the Baïse). On July 16, 2025, Ibo and Marlies took over the reins and have since acted as the current owners. The new season in 2026 was launched under a new name: Le Cozy. 

After years as L’Amirauté sur Baïse we deliberately choose Le Cozy, a name that better reflects what guests truly experience here: warmth, homeliness and relaxed enjoyment. While the previous name strongly referred to location and history, Le Cozy emphasizes atmosphere and experience.

We want every guest to feel at home here immediately — not as a visitor, but as a welcome companion. The new name radiates simplicity, comfort and intimacy. It matches the small‑scale charm, the personal reception and the cozy moments that make our B&B so special.

Le Cozy is not a break with the past, but a natural evolution: the same hospitality, in a name that better expresses what we want to be: a warm place to land and unwind.
